Dear Mr Thompson,

I am writing to request your approval for the extension on the history project submission. This is mainly because the current due date falls on the same day as of my sister's marriage date.

Let me explain my situation in detail. I have recently received a call from home saying my sister's wedding date is confirmed and my availability is a must. There will be quite a lot of arrangement needs to be done, and my parents will be unable to do everything themselves. Therefore, I have to be there for the whole day and a week before. This will cause me to complete the project before the due date.

I have been constantly good at the academic performance since my starting year at the college, and there was no delay for assignments. I would highly appreciate it if you could approve for an extension of seven days so that I could have sufficient time to complete the project.
