Question :

A friend who lives in another country has invited you to come and stay with him on your next holiday. You are too busy to accept the invitation.

Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

thank him or her for the invitation

explain why you cannot come

give him or her your other news

Dear John,

Thanks for inviting to stay with you for a vacation. I'm sorry this time I couldn't make it; I'd be quite busy during the holiday period.

Let me explain my situation in more detail. Do you remember in our last conversation, I mentioned my interested in learning music. Well, my wish comes true, my parents have enrolled me for classical music during the summer holiday to keep me busy. For the first week, I'd be learning theory lessons followed by playing musical instruments based on individual choice, for me, it would be a guitar, my favourite. It is going to be a very exciting and busy vacation.

Do you know? in the annual sports competition, I won the gold medal in running and swimming. What's more, I'm going to participate in the national championship and I'm the one representing for my college.
