It has been observed that watching television becomes a dominant form of recreation over creative activities. This essay will analyze some underlying reasons and propose some feasible solutions to this issue.

The primary contributor to the situation is that telecasts have been growing in numbers as well as quantity, which greatly appeals to children at a young age. Compared to the past when most TV channels were in black and white with a limited number of programs, nowadays the plethora of high-definition channels are available on television. Thus, children prefer watching Cartoon Network over other activity. Another compelling rationale is the dearth of care as well as encouragement from parents. Busy work life has pushed modern parents away from their parents, and they hardly have time to spend with their offspring and to encourage them to do artistic activities such as painting, playing musical instruments. Children, as a consequence, turn to watch television in their leisure time.

Measures should be taken in order to reduce the time children use to watch TV programmes. Firstly, Despite an impossibility in altering broadcasting technology, educationalist should provide extra homework to students which are directly related to creativity development such as composing music, handicraft using paper. This would ensure pupils utilise their time wisely making creative crafts. Secondly, parents' guidance is essential because they are closest to their progeny and it is easier for parents to restrict the amount of time allowed for watching TV. Fathers and mothers are more persuasive and could resort to drastic measures such as corporal punishments if needed. Finally, they should spare more time playing with and encouraging their kids to participate in creative activities. They would feel motivated and cared; hence, more time spends on creative work.

In conclusion, several factors are cited as causes for children's propensity for adopting a passive habit of watching television more than ever before, and children should be guided and encouraged to do more inventive projects.
