Well, to be honest, history had never been my favourite subject. However, it is the 15th of August 1947 which fascinated me a lot because this is the day when India got independence from the British rule. After a long fight with the British, India finally became independent from British rule. This involves life sacrifices of numerous freedom fighter who being hang till death by the English government. At the same time, British India divided into Pakistan and India based on religious lines.

I have seen the plethora of movies and serious, such as Gadar, Pinjar, which are based on that period. This is from where I have aroused my interest in that era. These movies portray the way people suffered during those days. This period also shows that patriotism among dwellers was huge because many people fight for freedom until their death penalty and they embrace happily for the nation's independence.

I vividly remember that I read about this historical period in my history book when I was in grade eight. Though the information in that book was not sufficient to know everything about that event, it was my grandfather who told me everything about all the events and how difficult was it to survive before independence. His explanation was more profound than in the book.

I can say that the day when India became free from the British is my interesting historical event.
